Visual Culture: instructions

Procedure for assignment 1: 

First stage, due november 7, 13:00

  • Write your initial text in Word
  • Name the document Mylastname-1-draft.doc 
    (with your last name written in the way Blackboard does)
  • See the Syllabus for criteria on form, content, etcetera
  • Go to the correct forum
  • Add a message as a new thread (so not as a reply)
  • Think up an original subject
  • Write a few words in the message area
  • Add your text document as an attachment.  

Second stage, due november 10, 10:00

  • Go to the correct forum
  • Select Tree view
  • Find your own thread
  • Select and open the thread below yours (= posted directly after yours)
  • Read the message
  • Right-mouse-click on the attachment
  • Choose 'Save target as...' 
  • Put it somewhere on your computer or USB-stick
  • Open it in Word
  • Read it and check it against the criteria, 
  • Write your feedback in the document
  • And write who you are (Lastname as Blackboard shows it)
  • Save the document.
  • In the forum, make a reply on the thread where you found this document
  • Think up an original subject
  • Write a few nice words in the message area
  • Add the document-with-feedback as an attachment.

Third stage, due november 11, 13:00

  • Go to the correct forum
  • Find your own thread
  • Open the reply (there should be one)
  • Right-mouse-click on the attachment
  • Choose 'Save target as...' 
  • Name it Samename-1-commented.doc  
    (leave the name as it was, change draft in commented)
  • Put it somewhere on your computer or USB-stick
  • Open it in Word
  • Rewrite it until it matches the criteria you found in the Syllabus
  • Add a paragraph about the feedback you received, from whom, and what you did with it
  • If you haven't got feedback, write the name of the student that should have given it.
  • Add a paragraph about the feedback you gave, to whom
  • Delete the original feedback
  • Save your final text as Mylastname-1-final.doc 
  • Make sure your last name and ID are on the front page
  • Print it and check the print
  • Now in Blackboard, go to the yellow button Assignment
  • Do not add comments as the professor will probably read your print
  • Complete the assignment by adding your document as an attachment
  • Click Submit (not Save)
  • In class, hand in the print to the professor.

Fourth stage: see your marking

  • In a week, the professor may have read all texts...
  • By then, you will see your mark in My Grades

Please note: this instruction is possibly not correct and probably not clear to everyone. Also, Blackboard does not in all browsers behave as it should. Help eachother. Pose questions and answers in the forum Your Questions, Your Answers
